A multicloud strategy should not start with tools; it should start with business goals and expected service levels. When design starts there, platform decisions become measurable and sustainable.

The first move is standardizing core building blocks: identity, networking, observability, and delivery pipelines. That prevents each cloud from becoming an operational silo and shortens onboarding time.

We also recommend defining a workload matrix by criticality, compliance, and elasticity. Not everything must run everywhere: intentional placement usually outperforms uniform distribution.

Finally, governance must include FinOps from day one. Budgets, alerts, and cost policies are as important as security and availability.
